Here is an example of a molecule solid; the molecules are held loosely in place in the crystal by a combination of dipole-dipole and London forces. The molecule is cholesteryl octanoate:

It is an example of a liquid crystal, a compound whose molecules are ordered more strongly in one direction than another, and can lose part of that order. Here is an electron micrograph showing the liquid crystalline state:

Notice the correspondence between the shapes of the individual molecules visible in this graphic and the computed structure above!
