Practice in Writing Resonance Structures

1. Supply the second resonance structure that is generated by the electron shifts shown. Be sure to account for all unshared pairs of electrons and all formal charges.

2. For each pair of structures, draw the curly arrows (or fishhooks) necessary to turn the first structure into the second, and the second into the first. Be sure to account for all unshared pairs of electrons and all formal charges.

3. Write all the resonance structures for the following molecules; again, keep track of charges and unshared electron pairs.
