Where is the University of Maine?

The University of Maine is located in the small town of Orono, just off Interstate 95, about 12 miles northeast of Bangor.

The University, and portions of Orono and neighboring Old Town, occupy an island in the Penobscot River.

The star marks the approximate center of our campus. Jenness Hall, where the meeting will be held, is a bit north of the star. [For a zoomable, interactive version of this map, click the button below.]

Those arriving by car should take Exit 191, Kelly Road, from I-95, and bear right at the end of the exit ramp. Follow Kelly Road to the dead end with Rte 2 (about 0.8 mile), and turn left. Main Street proceeds through "downtown" Orono and across the Stillwater River. Just across the bridge at the third of our three traffic lights, bear left on College Avenue. Continue on College Avenue until you reach Alfond Arena (multiple peaked roof). Turn right and follow the loop around the field house. Jenness Hall will be on your right. Park anywhere.

Bangor International Airport is served by Delta, Comair, American Eagle, and Northwest, with many regular flights from Boston. If you rent a car, turn right on Union Street as you leave the airport, and proceed to the intersection with I-95. The northbound ramp will be on your left. Trailways runs regular bus service from Boston's South Station and Logan airport; the terminal in Bangor is right across the street from the airport.
