Bangor International Airport (BGR) is the closest major airport to Bar Harbor. Driving time is approximately one hour. Over 20 flights arrive daily from Boston, Philadelphia, New York La Guardia, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Albany.

The cost of a taxi from Bangor to Bar Harbor is $75 per trip; the vehicle can accomodate four persons Rental cars can be reserved with Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National at the Bangor International Airport

Persons arriving during the evening hours of Saturday, 5 June 2004, or departing early on the morning of Friday, 11 June 2004 may wish to reserve a room at the Four Points by Sheraton at the Bangor airport, which is directly connected to the terminal building. A limited number of rooms has been reserved for the evenings of 5 June and 10 June at a special Conference rate. This special rate is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and must be booked directly with Four Points prior to 14 May 2004. To reserve a room, call +1-207-947-6721 and ask for the special VAS11 conference rate, or book a room online by entering the special code 1346 (5 June) or 1347 (10 June) on the reservation form.

Coach (Bus) Service from Boston to Bangor

Concord Trailways provides coach service from Boston's Logan International Airport and Boston's South Station (bus and train terminal) to Bangor. The cost is $65 round trip. The travel time from Boston is approximately five hours, with a brief stop in Portland, and includes a snack and two movies in route. The bus terminal in Bangor is adjacent to Bangor International Airport; transportation from there to Bar Harbor (as above) can be requested on the Transportation Request Form.

For further information regarding the coach schedule, telephone 1-800-639-3317, or go to the Concord Trailways web site. Coaches collect passengers at all terminals at Logan. Ask at the Ground Transportation Information kiosk to find the nearest departure point. The marquee should display the destination "Bangor", but we recommend flagging any Trailways coach and confirming the destination with the driver. Some incoming coaches may incorrectly display "Portland". Payment may be made on the coach or at South Station. Additonal coaches usually are put in service if passenger demand requires.
